This is a re-record spurred by my dear friend and longtime songwriting confidant Wren (stage name is Wren Dove Lark) after she didn't like the original version I released last year.
I wrote the original song in one sitting, which almost never happens. I changed the last two lines for the re-record because sometimes first thought is not best thought
the post-punk band Moaning also has a killer song called Don't Go, to which this has no relation (I’ve written about the bassist’s band Fashion Club before but that was after I released the song)
lyrics
I'm not gonna hurt you, but I might wear you out
You don't want to hurt me, so you're just gonna walk out
And I won't stop it
What if I told you
Don't go
If I can swear I don't need you
I just like having you around
Always counting down, to the day I cross the line
Try to live in the moment, but we're running out of time,
And I can't stop it
What if I told you
Don't go
If I can swear I don't need you
I just like having you around
What if I told you
Don't go
I know why you wouldn't stay
But can we find a way?
Don’t go
